Childrens House Teaching Assistant - Montessori Trained
Hours: 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM
Start Date: August 2026
Position Type: Annual Contract
Lake Country Montessori School is seeking a Montessori Classroom Assistant with the opportunity to grow into a Lead Guide role. This position works closely with our Lead Children’s House Guide, supporting the daily life of the classroom while developing the leadership, observation, and presentation skills needed to Assist children’s emotional and social development by modeling grace, courtesy, respect, and empathy transition into guiding a Montessori environment in the future.
The ideal candidate is warm, collaborative, and deeply aligned with the Montessori philosophy. This role is especially suited for someone who has Montessori training or is actively working toward certification and is interested in long-term professional growth within our school.
Key Responsibilities
Support the Montessori work cycle and daily classroom flow
Help maintain a calm, orderly, and beautifully prepared environment
Observe and guide children in ways that foster independence, confidence, and respectful behavior
Assist with daily routines, practical life activities, art, music, movement, and outdoor exploration
Support snack, lunch, and rest-time transitions
Care for classroom materials and assist with light cleaning and organization
Communicate professionally with staff and families and maintain confidentiality
Lead Guide in Training
Participate in mentorship and professional development
Practice lesson presentations and deepen observation skills
Learn Montessori recordkeeping, curriculum planning, and classroom leadership
Take on increasing responsibility as training progresses
Qualifications
Required:
Montessori training (AMI or AMS 3–6 credential preferred; candidates currently enrolled will be considered)
Experience working with young children
Warm, patient, and professional demeanor
Strong communication and teamwork skills
High school diploma (early childhood coursework preferred)
CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain)
Authorization to work in the U.S.
Preferred:
Montessori certification (AMI/AMS 3–6)
Degree in Early Childhood Education or a related field
Montessori classroom experience
Interest in long-term growth into a Lead Guide role
Physical Requirements
Lift up to 40 lbs
Frequent bending, floor sitting, and active indoor/outdoor supervision in all seasons
Light cleaning and classroom maintenance

Montessori training is not required — only a love for working with young children and a willingness to learn.
